Yup, I went a few years without anything but my phone while I was on the road truck driving. :D

Nope. Internet is life.

Depends! I can live without the 'timewasting' sites (Facebook, Twitter etc) but for things like research and job seeking, it's invaluable.

I don't watch much TV and I hate talking on the phone, so that would leave me with pretty much just reading and writing. Even though I'm content with both of those things, I feel as though my sanity would be jeopardized. xD

Well Ry, I probably could but I have many anime shows to catch up on, school projects, school overall plus I love all the randomness online. If I wasn't in school then maybe I could give it up for over a month, no longer.
LunarMew Featured By Owner Mar 29, 2013  Student Digital Artist
I would, but since school and work depend on it I can't. If I was in a situation where I didn't need the internet for anything important except watching videos on Youtube or something, then yes, I can survive a year without being online. I can still draw traditionally, after all. ^^;

Possibly, though I'd rather not test it.

I'd probably hang out in the biggest library I could find all the time

I survived nearly 14 years without the internet, I think I can manage.
RichardSodan Featured By Owner Feb 23, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
maybe... can i have a smart tv?
EquidnaRojo Featured By Owner Feb 23, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I've done it before, and if I can help it, I never will again. I use the internet for researching more than cat pictures and rotting away on social media sites. Ahaha... I've recently learned alot about substitutions in cooking. And very little of it by mindlessly surfing. I'm proud of myself for that! Lol!

I think I would be able to write A LOT more, so it would actually benefit me :iconro-hehplz:
Peanut-ButterNJelly Featured By Owner Feb 21, 2013
Not really. The simple fact is, schools practically require you have to have internet these days. It is not uncommon for teachers to assign you homework at night on their website. If it was an internet-free world, I would absolutely be able to. But now everything is too dependent on the internet it would be impossible to live without.
Plus, I really enjoy the internet, as distracting as it can be. I love learning new things, watching stuff the TV will not show, looking at all this amazing art, having the option to download games (I would die if I had to go to the store all the time), and talking to new people. Most of my true friends would be impossible to reach without the internet, and I would feel really lonely without them.
S-Y-E Featured By Owner Feb 21, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I didn't have the internet at my home ever until 3 years ago (I'm 25) I'd miss it (mostly just here) but I think I would get by just fine without it.
ZerbaPaint Featured By Owner Feb 21, 2013  Student General Artist
I would prefer not to, but I would manage.
wezenbeesje Featured By Owner Feb 21, 2013  Professional General Artist
I use the internet to live (going to places, making money...). So I can't without it. But if I would use it less it would be better.
octopusxtimexkeeper Featured By Owner Feb 20, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
could totes do it :I
it'd be very sad though..... :,I
Minami-05 Featured By Owner Feb 20, 2013
People still watch tv?!
Dscapades Featured By Owner Feb 20, 2013  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
i never used to have it so i could get back into the groove maybe.
FauxFox13 Featured By Owner Feb 20, 2013  Student General Artist
If I'm getting paid or have some kind of incentive, then I think it would be more plausible for me. Otherwise, I'm not sure I'd be able to keep what little sanity I have left lol
Fuzzyhair Featured By Owner Feb 20, 2013   General Artist

But then there would be no socialising with all all these cool people :dummy:
And there won't be any music to download..
Or movies..
Or references..

I did manage pretty okay for many, many years but since the net is used nearly everyday now across the world and since you really have no choice but to join in, it is a pain in the ass :/
I know there are ways around it but it would get really awkward after quite some time :grump:

In contrary...people are more social when they're not internetting. Just look outside, you see so many people looking at their mobile phones instead of talking to eachother. Even if they know eachother! D:
podsolnukh Featured By Owner Feb 20, 2013
It's strange... I remember when the internet was considered a "luxury" of sorts. Yes, it was useful in business, but was more or less another form of entertainment for most people. Now we live in a world where the internet is basically another utility like electricity and water.
mishi-chi Featured By Owner Feb 20, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I can do that! But I would be turning up to uni classes without notes and unable to hand in assignments online >.<
MusicLovesEveryone Featured By Owner Feb 20, 2013  Student Traditional Artist
Most of my homework is online so yeah I wouldn't be able to do it while in school...

It would be very hard, as I sometimes use Adobe Photoshop to clean up my art and photos. Not to mention responding to resume emails.
AlexisDragonStorm Featured By Owner Feb 19, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
man, i've gone a whole year without any electronics at all. no internet would be a piece of cake compared to that
DesmondeKapi Featured By Owner Feb 19, 2013  Student Traditional Artist
Unless I'm outside DOING something or trapped somewhere then, no.
whitestarflower Featured By Owner Feb 19, 2013
Yes, I could. It is possible, although it would be hard to search for jobs, because most jobs these days are advertised on the internet. Also, most other things are on the internet as well. So I would have to go to the bank to pay my VISA card bill. I would have to phone my friends and write to them instead of using Facebook and email. However, I think you would be able to have a better relationship with people through speaking to them on the phone and meeting them in person, and writing letters to them. I used to like getting letters in the mail, but these days most companies want to switch to email, and they think you are strange if you request your letters are sent to you in the post. I asked one organisation I am a member of to send me letters in the post instead of email. They replied with "Don't you like technology?"

However, I think if we go back to the days before internet, it was a simpler way of living. We still had all the things we have these days, except most of them were in different mediums. For example, in the past we did not have ebay, but you could sell things through the trading post. I only got the internet when I was 14, but before that I used the computer to play games on. I used to have pen friends that I wrote to.

If I was going to do that, I would need to update my Facebook status to: I am going without internet for a whole year. Please contact me by phone or mail.

very interesting comment, it really puts one in perspective. especialy to the equivalent of life without the internet. I think in my case, since I need to do commission to survive, I would need to talk to the person on the phone then mail them the artwork on a CD or print it out and send it to them. I don't know what to do to recieve money.. maybe they can send to my bank and i go to my bank to check if they paid i guess. and waiting for a phonecall is how i get my jobs.. it would be quite troublesome so i picked 'No i cant survive without the internet for a year'. i envy those who can survive without technology, as useful technology is, it is also very distracting.

Life would absolutely SUCK. But I mean, physically, of course I could survive. >_>... right?

Funny story! When I first moved out of the house I had no money for internet or cable. I had my cell phone and sometimes I could catch the neighbors wifi for just enough that I could check my email but not enough to really count as being on the internet. Most of my friends went away because I deactivated my facebook (at my parents house) because if I wasn't going to be using it for over a year then why have it! So I gave everyone my contact information, told them where I was and waited. So most of my friends stop being my friends pffft. However I now have a very impressive array of video games ranging from DS to Xbox to PC games. Also my dvd collection is huge (I work at a movie theater as well so I usually just went there.) The local store had this huge bin of discounted new movies so hurray! So it CAN be done, it helps if you live with someone though, or things will get super lonely (I moved in with my boyfriendddd.) So for over a year we had nothing haha.

Of course, and I would probably be more productive without the internet as a distraction xP
cmila92 Featured By Owner Feb 19, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I did it, since we moved two years ago I wasn't able to put internet in the house you kind of get used to it, I would just get on like 3 times a month at a cousin house lol
waatz Featured By Owner Feb 19, 2013
Not anymore. Not with college, and not with my teachers saying I need to learn some thing by my own.
I can't even depend on radio to listen music I want to! Or getting in touch with people ONLY by calling them or bumping on them ocasionally!
Darethus Featured By Owner Feb 19, 2013
Of course it can be done (unless you work through the internet)!! It would be boring as hell though.
LeoHightower Featured By Owner Feb 19, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I've done that once already, I handled it OK, but I was bored beyond a doubt, when the power goes out, I can't do anything, cause I depend on electronics and a fully charged battery for many things

Depends. I don't watch the T.V. much at all, haven't written a letter in a long time, nor do I like calling people. But I can do without the internet. The only thing I'll miss is going to dA ^^;
fernny619 Featured By Owner Feb 19, 2013  Hobbyist Writer
I've gone 3 months without my computer and all that got me by was my wi-fi for my 3DS and Wii. So, wait, does that count as internet? HOLY HELL MY WHOLE LIFE DOES REVOLVE AROUND INTERNET THEN.
