You may have noticed, I go to conventions a lot, conventions are great for getting your art out there and also making a bit of money from it too. Although I hate the idea of money being such big factor in our lives, unfortunately it is inevitable. It would be wonderful if the whole world can just get rid of the concept of money altogether and just share everything, share food and share clothes and just do things for themselves and others out of pure love. I know I am starting to sound like a hippie right now! haha but yes this idea is impossible because of human nature, communism does not work! Anyway I am going on a tangent here, what I wanna talk about is that I just had the last convention for the year of 2015 yesterday. There has been a lot of great conventions, great meaning I got to meet lots of people and see friends and have people compliment on my art so I know that I am on the right track. Lots of love flying around, which is what I like. However there has been a few that hasn't been so good, one in particular happened a few weeks ago.

I am not gonna name that convention to save them the embarrassment (Its not their intention to be terrible afterall), it was a very small con in a city not too far from where I live, a little bird told me about this little convention/festival thats happening. So I looked it up and the artist table space wasn't too expensive either, it also mentioned that you get a back wall to put up your prints up, which was nice. So I thought to myself, if I could just sell a couple of my artworks I should be able to make the money back for the table and anything I make extra would be profit *KACHING! Im an accountant!*. I was well aware that the convention was small, I even looked at the map and its pretty much just one big room... But I took the gamble anyway. I even told my friend Jeremy about this convention as he lived just 10 minutes walk from the place so it wouldn't be too difficult for him to get there. And I felt so bad afterwards...

Comes convention day, I got there and yes the place was small.. The area was no bigger than my house, whats weird is that it was KINDA outdoor? They have kinda an open roof, and the place being next to the river made it really really windy. So I took my suitcase of prints to my table, and guess what? There was no back wall... they promised me a back wall and there wasn't one, meaning all I could do is display my art on the table, the attendees would not be able to see my art if they are a few meters away. But then again... WHAT attendees? There was hardly anyone there. They really didn't advertise this event well enough, pretty much if you are outside this building, you would NOT even know there's somethign happening inside it, so not even the common people who were just walking on the street would go inside, let alone knowing about it and going here. So anyway I put my prints on my table... and a gust of wind blew most of my prints off the table. :icontableflipplz: Lovely! I have never had an outdoor convention before in my life, so I got out anything heavy from my bag and put them on my prints, I kid you not I put my power charger, my bottle of water, scissors, pencil case, deodorant, pretty much anything I could find on top of my prints. I even went outside and start picking up rocks like Im some sort of rocks collector, there were people on the street looking at me and wondering what on earth I was doing . At the end I weight down most of my prints with rocks.....

After making the effort to set up everything, I just sat there waiting for people to check out my stuff... An hour went by, two hours went by, there was no sales..... Thats when I realised it might've been a mistake purchasing a table. I looked over at Jeremy's table and he wasn't selling anything either, And I was the one who told him to do it... I felt sooo bad, I even offered to buy him dinner if he doesn't make the money.. But luckily we DID make some sales, very very small ones, I managed to ACTUALLY MAKE THE MONEY BACK for the table and even a little bit more. Pewds dance -PewDiePie  I managed to make a total profit of........ $10. Yes, all that effort and sitting in the convention for 8 hours (If you could even call it a convention) for $10... that I spent on dinner that night. Yup.

But yeah that was just a one time thing, thank you for those who liked and bought my stuff that day anyway.

It was funny during the last hour me and Jeremy just gave up, I started to pack my stuff early and as a joke I put those rocks on my table and put price tags on them. Hey if people aint interesting in my prints, maybe they would prefer to buy these valuable rocks instead.
