Hiya Ryceballs, today I wanna talk about three amazing artists that has inspired and motivated and kinda shaped who I am as an artist today, all three of them has a Deviantart account so you can check out their stuff if you like. And all three of them so happen to have their name starting with C, how about that huh? So I guess a tip is if you wanna become an amazing artist, change your name to something starting with C. Ry is also fortunate enough to know all three of them over time and likes to think of them as my senpais.Chamba
Chances are if you are on Deviantart long enough you probably have come across his work already since he's been active on Deviantart for 10 years and he's like a megastar in the art universe. When I first joined Deviantart, he was one of my earliest people I watched because I just loved his perspective and angle he chooses in his work, he made me realise that you can take a regular looking character and make them interesting if you choose a cool looking angle and give them a dynamic pose. It made me aware of how important an action and perspective is. So if you remember in my earlier drawings (We are talking about like over 5 years ago) my art style was quite cell shaded like Chamba's. I had no idea how to use a graphic tablet and kinda new to Photoshop painting so I just used his anime shading style as my own for a while. And last year I finally get to meet him when I travelled to Melbourne and turns out he is aware of my work (Senpai noticed me), and we decided to collab on a Mario Kart artwork, with him doing the lines and I doing the shading and coloring. Chancake
Chancake is another artist I followed since the beginning, I don't know 90% of the anime she watches but what I like about her stuff are the colors she used in her artworks as well as the cute and somtimes handsome faces. I like how her stuff often has a humourous message behind it too and her stuff has a very graphic design feel to it, I don't know how to describe it but her stuff are very.. Strong and Vibrant and Funny and just overall amazing. So long ago I noticed she has a Marth icon zooming in, back then I had a boring yellow lightning bolt icon and I wanted to make something new so I asked if I can join her Zoom Smash Bro family and she said sure! So I made my pikachu zoom icon and has been using it ever since. We also met a few times in conventions, shes so nice and so funny too. I am particularly a fan of her Suits and Suits series, its really great
I still dont understand how she can mix and match certain colors and it would look so great as a whole, this girl got natural talent.Cuson
If Chamba taught me about perspective and Chancake taught me about colors then I guess Cuson taught me how to paint properly. Now the other two artists aint TOO hard to meet as they lived in Australia, but what are the chances of me meeting Cuson? Well chances weren't high but weren't low either, so happen he lived in Hong Kong (Im from Hong Kong too by the way) and one time he was invited to Sydney as an artist guest for SMASH!. He didn't speak much english so when he was over here, I was able to use my dodgy cantonese to communicate with him, I was feeling brave and just wanted to tell him that I really liked his stuff, who knew in return he changed my life. He did a live demonstration of how he paints on stage, this demonstration revolutionised the way I do my work, it even pushed me to not use the mouse to draw anymore and actually use a proper Wacom graphic tablet. I followed his every step and even today I still follow those steps! Later that year I was in Hong Kong and met up with him and his wife again for BBQ. There's nothing more awesome than spending time with someone you admire for a day.
So there you go, I have other deviantart Artists that I look up to as well but the 3C are definately my top three artists that holds a special place in my heart.
RYCEBALLS! I want you to name one artist that you really admire on Deviantart, JUST ONE! And it cannot be Ry-Spirit either. OK? Got any questions? WELL TOO BAD. COMMENT AWAY. I will check out their pages and tell them who brought me there.
