The Widowmaking of Widowmaker by Ry-Spirit The Widowmaking of Widowmaker by Ry-Spirit
I think that wins the most creative title ever.

So, I have decided to do a step by step tutorial on how that #21DaysofOverwatch Widowmaker artwork I did a few weeks back came to be. We begin with the number 1.

1. I began the artwork with many rough strokes, letting my hand glide through the tablet board freely on its own, almost like an ice skater skating her way across the empty rink. Without a care in the world.

2. Then I looked at the mess I have created, and tried to work out how the character would look with more details. I started a new layer and just added a bit more details to the rough Widowmaker. I was pleased with what I saw.

3. Thats when I realised that I hated everything and went over it again and again and again until I got the pose right! At the end I decided to move the gun more towards the back and have Widowmaker doing a Kylo Ren pose.

4. Since Widowmaker is such a shady character, I have decided to add shades to the character. I also wanted the light to come up from below to give her a more evil kinda feel. Almost like she prefers to be in the shadows.

5. Colors are important I heard, so I blocked in some colors to make her look more colorful. A bit like the time when black and white TVs evolved into colored TVs.

6. Then I combined the shading with the colors to see what it looks like. It looks kinda there but not quite. Oh I also decided to do a bit of background, I really had no idea what I wanted for the background at that point, I was literally just brushing in random things, for all we know the background could be an exploding llama.

7. I then zoomed in and repainted many parts of her body, fixing up the lighting, adding details. OH I also decided the background will be a Stone Cold Steve Austin glass break.

8. Step 7 was pretty much complete, but I said no no no. It needs more work! So I took a break, then came back and fixed up everything that I saw wrong (And there was a lot). I added a bit of blur to her hand, I added more details to her hair, I added more shine to her clothing, I added more background details, I befriended a squirrel. (the last part was not relevant but just thought I would share it.)

....And it was complete! Many hours of hard work but it came out nicely, Im quite proud of this artwork. If you haven't seen this artwork in its full size, just click on the image below. Thanks!

WIDOWMAKER!!!

as a person who played Overwatch Open Beta, Widowmaker is one of my top 4 favorites to play as, along with Tracer, D.Va, and Lucio. But I ain't good at usin her much HAHAHAH

Still, she is really pretty, and in first player shooting games I'm the sniper in my family, so once we have a PSN Plus account, we can play Overwatch ^_^
