I always viewed Ash as someone a bit insane and a bit too hyper... Like all he ever wanna to be is become a Pokemon Master, he doesnt have any feelings for a females (or male). He keeps freeing his powerful Pokemon and catches new weak ones..

So in this picture i decided give Ash an insanity look, something that I think suits him very well. Mmm I wonder what he is looking at..

your take on ash in madness is spot on. the way you got his smile shows
his compulsive desire to beat everyone he meets and the high he gets from it. his hair shows that he does'nt really care much about appearance. his
wide baggyeyed gaze is striking and sends the message that he will beat
anyone. overall i like your take on him as it gives a perspective on his
personality. you've done wonders on making this look traditional. looking at
this picture makes me laugh at his eccentric and wild expression. but i find
this charming and funny! which is why i like looking at him like this as his face
is the first thing you notice.

Since you are going for the Insane Ash Look you hit the target. The big eyes and small pupils really give it that feel. I think it is very original- I haven't yet seen any other fan art portraying anything like this. I like the fact though it is digital media it looks like traditional artwork. As stated the impact of Ash looking out of his mind you have got the point across. I love coming back to this picture because it is not typical Pokemon fan art. The one thing I would of like to be done is give more depth to his hair but black is a difficult color to do without it looking like another color ( like a dark blue, purple if you used those colors to make it less flat) but that is a minor detail in this because to me the intent is more on his facial expression.
